The May 2026 CPA board exam is just weeks away. Here's a week-by-week study plan to maximize your remaining review time, from foundation building to final exam strategy.

The May 2026 CPA Licensure Examination is set for May 24-26. Starting from April 1, that gives you about 7.5 weeks (53 days) to prepare. Whether you're just starting your review or already deep in practice, here's how to structure your remaining weeks to maximize your chances of passing.

This plan covers all 6 subjects across the 3-day exam format (per BOA Resolution No. 30, Series of 2022): MAS, Auditing, Taxation, RFBT, FAR, and AFAR.

Phase 1: Foundation & Assessment (April 1–14)

Goal: Identify your weak subjects and establish a daily study habit.

Week 1 (April 1–7)

  • Take a diagnostic quiz in each of the 6 subjects (10–15 questions each) to identify your baseline
  • Rank your subjects from weakest to strongest
  • Set up your daily schedule: aim for 3–4 hours minimum on weekdays, 5–6 hours on weekends
  • Focus this week on your 2 weakest subjects

Week 2 (April 8–14)

  • Continue building foundations in weak subjects
  • Start reviewing study materials for Day 1 subjects (MAS and Auditing)
  • Complete at least 20 practice questions per subject per day
  • Use the AI tutor for concepts you find confusing — it's more efficient than re-reading notes

Milestone: By April 14, you should have reviewed the core topics of your 2 weakest subjects and started Day 1 subjects.

Phase 2: Deep Practice (April 15–28)

Goal: Build speed and accuracy through intensive practice.

Week 3 (April 15–21)

  • Shift to 40–50 practice questions per day across your subjects
  • Focus on Taxation and RFBT (Day 2 subjects) — RFBT has 100 MCQs, the most of any subject
  • Review every wrong answer. Don't just read the explanation — understand why the correct answer is right and why yours was wrong
  • Start timing yourself: aim for 1.5 minutes per MCQ (this is the board exam pace)

Week 4 (April 22–28)

  • Take your first full mock exam (Day 1 format: MAS AM + Auditing PM)
  • Analyze your mock exam results: which topics need more work?
  • Continue daily practice with emphasis on FAR and AFAR (Day 3 subjects)
  • Review legislative updates for Taxation (TRAIN Law provisions, latest BIR rulings) and RFBT (Revised Corporation Code, recent BSP circulars)

Milestone: By April 28, you should have completed at least 1 full mock exam and be averaging 60%+ on practice questions.

Phase 3: Mock Exams & Timed Practice (April 29 – May 11)

Goal: Simulate real exam conditions and build stamina.

Week 5 (April 29 – May 5)

  • Take a full Day 2 mock exam (Taxation AM + RFBT PM)
  • Review all incorrect answers within 24 hours of each mock
  • Continue daily practice: 30–40 questions, focusing on your weakest areas
  • Start reviewing MAS computational problems — these require the most practice

Week 6 (May 6–11)

  • Take a full Day 3 mock exam (FAR AM + AFAR PM)
  • By now you should have completed mock exams for all 3 days
  • Identify your top 5 weakest topics across all subjects — these are your priority for the final stretch
  • Practice under strict time pressure: set a timer for each mock section

Milestone: By May 11, you should have completed at least 3 full mock exams (one per day format) and know exactly which topics need final review.

Phase 4: Final Review & Exam Strategy (May 12–23)

Goal: Consolidate knowledge, build confidence, and peak at the right time.

Week 7 (May 12–18)

  • Focus exclusively on your top 5–10 weakest topics
  • Re-take practice sets in these areas until you're consistently scoring 75%+
  • Review key formulas and standards you keep getting wrong
  • Reduce study hours slightly (3–4 hours) to avoid burnout — you need to peak during exam week, not before it

Final Days (May 19–23)

  • Light review only: skim your notes, review flagged questions
  • Take one final full mock exam (pick your weakest day) early in the week (May 19–20)
  • Stop studying by May 22. Rest, eat well, prepare your materials
  • May 23: Review exam logistics — PRC requirements, testing center location, what to bring. Get 7–8 hours of sleep

Exam Day Tips (May 24–26)

  • Pace yourself: Each session is 4 hours (8:00 AM – 12:00 NN for the morning session and 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM for the afternoon session) — that's about 3.4 minutes per MCQ for 70-question subjects, and 2.4 minutes per MCQ for RFBT (100 questions). Practice at this pace beforehand
  • Don't get stuck: Mark difficult questions and come back to them
  • Trust your preparation: If you've followed this plan, you've put in 200+ hours of review
  • Passing score is 75% overall — you don't need to ace every subject, you need to be consistently solid across all of them
